Approaching the concept of Jungian archetypes through the female gaze, the 'Modern Muses' express four core values of contemporary female identity: Power, Self-Value, Sexuality and Mindfulness. Inspired by four women in myths across the globe, from the Amazonian warrior Hippolyta to the African mermaid Goddess Mami Wata, these icons were revived through fashion photography as guiders for women in the twentieth century.

Each model wears a self-made mask reflecting symbolic gestures of their inspired Muse. This project was produced during the pandemic, using safety requirements in a home studio in London.
